I like it spicy!

This past weekend I decided to rearrange the back patio. Well, actually, my wife strongly encouraged me to clean it up so we could actually use the place to sit this fall. Needless to say after much deliberation I decided to get rid of some of my mediocre veggie producing plants. One of the tomato plants I was growing was tossed and a few struggling green pepper plants. But what can I say, when you are trying to grow a jungle in an 8x8 foot area you can only do so much. I was happy to see that my herbs and chili plants were doing awesome (Gaze at the beautifulness above) as well as chewing on a basil leaf or two as I mingle around my small garden of eden...what a pleasure.

Audy Myles Barnett

Woo Hoo!!! Myles is here! He was born on Feb. 19, 2009 and came in weighing a whopping 7lbs 5oz and measured at 21 inches. He has been a blast so far and it is so cool to be a dad. Actually, it is a bit surreal at the moment. I keep waiting for someone to come pick him up, as if we are the baby sitters. Our past week has been full of doctors appointments, dirty diapers, and snuggling in the arms. He is definitely precious and I am so proud to be his father. I hope to get some pics up soon on the photo gallery so check it out soon!

Well I got to get going, he is calling...or is that crying ;)

Almost Here...

Myles is quickly on his way to entering the world this month. Ashley is now going in for regular doctor appointments to make sure everything is developing as it should. This is a very exciting time but also a nerve racking experience. I keep I have everything I need, will I be able to handle this, do we need more money, I hope everything goes smoothly through the labor. Last night Ashley and I were having a bit of pillow talk and discussing when the next time it will just be the two of us in an empty house again. It is going to be a long time! But, after watching how my parents react when all of us kids are home visiting, I realize that I am going to look forward to this "Dad" thing.

I really can't wait to teach him all the things that my dad taught me. How to tie a fishing hook, how to change the oil in a car, how to hold the flashlight still while he fixed something, how to climb trees, tie knots, and cook breakfast over a campfire. It just excites me so much to think that this child of mine is actually going to be mine. I can raise him how I want, he may look a bit like me, act a bit like me, and depend on me. Is it bad to say that I am already in the planning stages of a camping trip with him and his mom? Oh Myles, I can't wait to meet you.

Crib and Dresser Time

Today I was informed that I needed to go by and pick up little Myles' crib and dresser from Baby R' Us. I am so freakin' excited! Not so excited that it will be one more thing that I have to put together, but that we can finally get his room all finished. I know the mom-to-be is supposed to be the one "nesting," but seeing that I haven't carried this child around in my belly for 9 months, I can only feel so attached. I think getting his room to together for his arrival is really helping me prepare to be a dad. I am definitely not quite sure what being a dad is supposed to be, but I'll figure it out along the way...I hope :) Well, I better get to doing things.
